The distinguishing characteristic of bare-root trees is the manner in which they are harvested. They are dug from the field and shipped sans any soil or dirt covering the roots. Once a bare-root plant is delivered to your doorstep, you need to ensure that it is planted ASAP. If, for any reason this is not possible, then simply store the plant in a cool area. The main idea is to keep the roots moist.
